My journey did not begin in software. It started on the shop floor, where I completed my apprenticeship as a toolmaker specializing in mold and die technology. Working close to manufacturing gave me a deep appreciation for how products are actually built, and how engineering decisions ultimately translate into physical reality.
Driven by a passion for technology and continuous learning, I went on to earn qualifications as a Master Craftsman in Metal Engineering and Certified Trainer, followed by a Bachelor of Engineering in Materials Engineering and a Master of Science in Advanced Materials.
Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to experience engineering from multiple perspectives. From research at the Fraunhofer Institute, to simulation and calculation engineering at Siemens, and today in the healthcare technology environment at Siemens Healthineers, I have worked at the intersection of science, engineering, and industrial innovation.
Over time, one observation became increasingly clear: the biggest challenges in engineering rarely exist within a single discipline. They emerge at the boundaries between materials, products, processes, systems, and the people who work with them. Valuable knowledge is often scattered across tools, teams, and organizational silos.
Alongside my professional career, I developed a second passion: software engineering. What began as a personal hobby evolved into a long-term project driven by curiosity and the desire to solve real-world engineering problems. For more than five years, I have been building Sustavis in my spare time, a platform inspired by the belief that modern engineering organizations need a stronger digital foundation for R&D, PLM, and product data.
Sustavis brings together my experiences from manufacturing, materials engineering, simulation, and software development. Its goal is not simply to manage materials or product information, but to connect materials, products, processes, and engineering disciplines across a distributed product development landscape.
Today, Sustavis remains a passion project as much as a business venture. It is built through continuous learning, experimentation, and a genuine fascination with how engineering and software can work together to create better products, better decisions, and ultimately better outcomes.
